While we all waiting some official information from Microsoft regarding the Windows Phone 7.8 upgrade, the Chinese site WPDang reports that they learned from from a reliable source that today January 30th Microsoft will start global distribution of Windows Phone 7.8 update. Just a reminder that this a rumors, but WPDang so far in the past has proved to be quite reliable source of information about Windows Phone devices.
The update is scheduled for 18:00 GMT and that the whole process should be done within 3 weeks time. WPDang also reports that all smartphones running WP7.5 will receive this update, this is in contrast with what is reported from HTC and LG that some devices won't be receiving the update.
With the hope that this update will be available for all users, including those of the first generation, we just have to wait until tonight to see if it actually Microsoft will release this update.
Please note that Windows Phone 7.8 is the update that brings new Windows Phone 8 Homescreen to Windows Phone 7.x devices, in addition to this feature are minor improvements like the new themes and many more.
