Homebrew - Orientation Lock updated to version 3.0

Jaxbot, the renowned developer from Windows Phone Hacker, has released yesterday a new version of the homebrew that allows you to disable the accelerometer of our Windows Phone devices so as not to rotate the screen in various applications.

We have seen in the past, early versions of this application showed that while working for small problems or discounts such as the need to restart the phone to lock and unlock the screen rotation, resolved in version 2.0. The new version 3.0 the id number you can put in a tile dedicated homescreen that acts as a switch to lock and unlock the screen rotation without accessing the application. Practically the application will open and close automatically changing the setting screen rotation. Moreover, you will understand at a glance what state is the rotation of the screen (locked, unlocked) with open or closed padlock image in the background in this tile.

Unlike the previous version that worked with a simple developer unlocked (no interop unlock), this new version requires the device to be interop unlock and granted access with WP Root Tool or 3rd alternative Custom ROM.

You can download the application from  WindowsPhoneHacker

Here comes the first custom ROM for Nokia Lumia 800 and Lumia 710

Having achieved the important goal of the bootloader access and modify files residing in the NAND memory the XDA community few hours ago has released the first Custom ROM for Lumia 800 and Lumia 710.

The custom ROM is based on new firmware 12070 (RM819_059P453_1600.2487.8107.12070_002) and integrates the Interop Unlock, but unfortunately can be only flashed on Lumia 800 and Lumia 710 with unlocked bootloader (available only in the first official firmware).

Now the XDA community will work to make the ROM available on all Lumia devices, trying to open each version of the bootloader. The flash ROM requires custom tool 'dd' (pre-installed on Linux distributions installed on Windows) and u hard reset the device. If you are interested will find information on Xda-Developers.

More information can be found at Xda-Developers.

ChevronWP7 Labs homebrew unlocking service comes to an end! Within 120 days, the device will be re-closed

Given the capabilities, Microsoft has taken the team to find a way to unlock the devices in an official Windows Phone without a developer account that requires an annual cost of $ 99. The Chevron Labs team in collaboration with Microsoft has created a well-known experiment called ChevronWP7 Labs, for a small fee of $ 9 selling you token that allow you to developer unlock your WP smartphone. This method has had an immediate success because 10,000 tokens were sold in less than two months.

Team Chevron has stated that the agreement with Microsoft included only 10,000 tokens, sold out in just two months. In this regard, the service has been suspended for an unspecified time
The team has just published an article on its official blog saying that the service has been permanently discontinued.

Demonstration: DFT Bluetooth File Transfer for WP7

Jaxbot at WindowsPhoneHacker has uploaded this video demonstrating the DFT hack which allows Bluetooth File Transfer on Fully Unlocked Windows Phones.

(Homebrew) DFT releases Bluetooth file transfer utility for fully-unlocked phones

Finally, comes the first Windows Phone homebrew application that allows you to send and receive files via bluetooth device. Dark Forces Team (DFT) has just released the first version to the public.

The bad news is you'll need a fully-unlocked phone meaning dev and interop devices need not apply. That also limits this currently to Gen 1 devices

In this first version of course there are bugs, for example, if the send operation was canceled, the device saves the file already submitted or can not receive files without opening the bluetooth settings of the handset.

"Overview
Application allows to receive files via Bluetooth or send files via Bluetooth. Also application include feature to auto install received REG RGU and XAP files. So you can send XAP file from PC to your phone and it will be installed at the end.Same with REG/RGU - you can send a file and it will be applied to registry. Note file must be in UNICODE format. ANSI files don't supported by application."
