Samsung Omnia W gets a 25% price cut in India, now cheaper than Lumia 710

Couple of months back, Nokia slashed the price of Lumia 710 in India to Rs. 15499. Back then, Lumia became the cheapest ever Windows Phone available in the Indian market.

The reason behind the price drop could be the steep competition from ‘brother from another mother’ called Samsung Omnia W I8350. Initially, both of the devices were launched with staggering Rs. 19500+ price tag.

The Windows Phone running Omnia W is now available for Rs 15,200 on Flipkart, about Rs 300 cheaper than the Lumia 710.

Samsung is taking pre-orders for the Samsung Omnia W device in India. The device will costs Rs.19,000 as announced earlier. The Samsung Omnia W is second generation Windows Phone with a 3.7” S-AMOLED screen, HSPA data speeds, and a 1.4 GHz single-core processor. The phone has a 5-megapixel rear camera, a front-facing camera, gyro sensor, and 8 GB of storage.

Samsung Omnia W is one decent all-around smartphone, especially when we take its price point into account. Sure, it may not come bragging with a dual-core processor, tons of RAM, or any bells and whistles of that kind, but its performance is nothing short of flawless despite the mid-range hardware that is listed on its specs sheet.

Last.fm takes on the Samsung Omnia W

We saw the other day YouTube featuring Windows Phone on its front page and tonight it's Last.fm's turn. Hopping over to the site and heading to the Radio area, you'll have your browser overtaken by the Samsung Omnia W and Windows Phone, including that $25 app card good for the Marketplace.
Although people have rightly complained about lack of exposure for Windows Phone in the past, it seems clear that everyone is stepping up a bit on the second go-around. Hopefully it will pay off in some sales.
