A quarter of leaving webOS users are coming to Windows Phone

As we know HP has decided to continue slowly killing webOS by placing it on the slow open source burner and not producing any more hardware for the next 12 months at least (and no smartphones ever again).

This raises the question of what the next platform of webOS loyalists will be. PreCentral asked, and found, of the ones which still have webOS devices and who are leaving, the breakdown is pretty similar to the current smartphone market, except hardly anyone wants to go to Blackberry, with that balance choosing to go to Windows Phone instead.

40% will move to Android, 29% to iPhone, 26% to Windows Phone and only 5% Blackberry

The online survey totalled more than 3000 readers.According to some rumours there are around 4 million webOS users, and while their absorption will not make an appreciable difference to other platforms, if Windows Phone can pick up a million of those it would in fact make an impact.

The survey also confirms that, at least for webOS users, Windows Phone 7 is already the 3rd platform, and that Blackberry has largely been discounted.
