Nokia is rolling out new firmware update for Nokia Lumia 800 that will improve battery life & camera performance

Couple of days we have reported that new firmware update is coming to Nokia Lumia 800. Now it seems the testing is over and Nokia has begun rolling the firmware update to users in Singapore and probably the rest of the world will follow soon enough. 


As has been reported by users, with this update Nokia and Microsoft should add application camera following shooting modes:

• Smart group shot
• Landscape
• Action
• Self Timer

All users who have flash their phones earlier this week and the ones that got the update via Zune, also noticed better battery life, a new Diagnostic Tool and Bass in the audio playback

New firmware for Nokia Lumia 800 coming soon, Nokia preparing to improve the camera performance

XDA has been reported on the presence of a new firmware for Lumia 800, numbered as version 1600.2487.8107.12070 and dedicated for the vodafone customers in New Zealand. 


The firmware, which has not yet been released, should bring important new features to the photo department, as has been promised for several weeks by Nokia.

As has been reported by users and configuration files of the rom, with this update Nokia and Microsoft should add application camera following shooting modes:

• Landscape
• Action
• Self Timer

All users who have flash their phones also noticed better battery life, a new Diagnostic Tool and Bass in the audio playback

Finland's biggest carrier Elisa has posted their sales figures for February and it seems the good times for Nokia continues since Nokia Lumia 800 has occupied first position at consumer and business segment.

Good initiative from Nokia in Hungary.Nokia is giving away a free Nokia-branded version of the Surfcube 3D browser. The app is normally ad-supported, but will of course lack these in the Nokia version.

SurfCube 3D, for those not familiar, is a browser which is the cube of its strength combined with virtual 3D graphic effects and is usually sold at a price of 1.99 € (or can be downloaded for free with banner ads).

CDMA Nokia Lumia 800 for China Telecom coming in April with Tango on board

It appears that the rumors that Nokia 800c  testing are underway in China.Now we are getting some reports from the teiba.baidu forum that Nokia is to announce Lumia 800 and 710 for China in March, release happening in April. Both of the phones would run on WP Tango.

Dinning: for lumia 800? We are working on some improvements

Interesting message appeared recently on Twitter, Damian Dinning ,the Nokia camera "guru"

He has confirmed that the company is still working to improve the camera performance of theNoka Lumia 800.

The performance of the camera will be further improved with the next software update .

The figure was already partially emerged in late January with the update on the resolution of problems related to the battery of Lumia 800. Dinning is not clear on which side of the intervention will work, but it is encouraging to know that the team is actively at work.

Nokia Lumia 800 sold out on many Elisa shops

It seems Nokia Lumia 800 has flying start in the motherland.Finland’s largest operator has had shortage of Lumia 800, even after just yesterday saying that Nokia’s supply line would be ready for anything and had thousands of phones available via Elisa alone. 

Though not to get overly exited as not all Elisa stores where sold out.It is surprisingly the black color selling out, and only in certain stores – Elisa’s Executive Vice President Henri Korpi

According to Korpi it was especially corporate side that was buying the black Lumia 800 in masses, that said not sure what’s so surprising about black color selling well.Looking at Finland’s largest unlocked phone seller Verkkokauppa.com, there seems to be only 3 Cyan Lumia 800 left, over 25 black Lumia 800′s available (don’t show exact numbers when going over 25) and they seem to be selling one black Lumia 800 every 1-7 minute.

Nokia has announced it will be bringing its Lumia range of Windows-based smartphones in March ,in its ‘return to the New Zealand and Australian smartphone market’


Nokia Australia has posted on Twitter that the Nokia Lumia 800 will be available in Australia in March and the price will be AUD$699.


In New Zealand the Nokia Lumia 800 will be available through TelecomNZ and vodafoneNZ in March. Nokia Lumia 70 will be exclusive to Telecom, March also and Telecom has confirmed that it will sell the Lumia 710 for $549 and the Lumia 800 for $899.

Price Busters: Lumia 800 for $520 in Italy, $560 Elsewhere

An Italian website is offering the Black 800 for € 399 (520 dollars0- same as Amazon’s Cybermonday sale)- HURRY Offer ends in 9 hours!!! Meanwhile SGbest.com is offering the Lumia 800 with your choice of color (First time I’ve seen anyone actually offering you all colors for the same price-or any color choice at all) for a reasonable $560. 

On a side-note this is bitter-sweet news, as the phone prices are dropping meaning more people will buy; on the other hand could this mean that the 800 isn’t selling all that well?? Compared to it’s twin sister the N9 which was released almost 4 months before, the N9 is Just starting to sell below the 600 dollar mark; I’m probably over analyzing considering it’s Christmas season and all, but it’s definitely something to think about.
