Rumor:Nokia Lumia 900 to be offered by Rogers in May

Rumor has it that Rogers is also considering launching the device on its network, with LTE capabilities in tow. Apparently, May is the targeted release timeframe, yet no confirmation on the matter has emerged so far.

Canadian mobile phone carrier Rogers is currently gearing up for the release of its first Windows Phone-based handset from Nokia, the Lumia 710. Now it appears that the Lumia 900 will be heading straight to Rogers as well,so far there are no details on prices, but the launch is tentatively scheduled to be happening this May.

EXCLUSIVE: Nokia Lumia 900 Hands On!

That’s right we have been seeing Lumia 900 results popping up. A Nokia source got me hands on with the device & answered a few questions on it.

So first things that you will notice with the device is the huge 4.3 AMOLED screen which is a personal favourite of mine & a 1.4GHz processor. As with all the Windows Phones on the marketplace currently the HTC Titan is the only other device with a big enough screen with as I was told “a nicer camera to compliment the big screen”.

Regarding the design on the device itself it is just a bigger Lumia 800, keeping the same design and button layout out. The only current differences regarding design were the current Lumia 800 push & click for access to the device & Micro Sim have changed into a iPhone style pin push access to the Sim card and no cover to the Micro USB.

Finally a change which will only go ahead depending on the feedback on the Lumia 800 is the case finish which the current prototype has a gloss finish unlike the current Lumia’s matt finish. As I only saw a prototype & the device has a while to go till final production we can see a few changes yet to happen but I will try to keep you as updated as possible.

Launch will be hard to really estimate, although some seem to think we’ll be seeing it in Q1 2012 (note the picture on that link is *NOT* the Lumia 900), but we can look at around Tango release because the current prototypes are only running on Tango. Finally as Nokia are such great fans of NFC I also had confirmation that the Apollo (Next gen of Windows Phones) will bring support for NFC devices.

Nokia Ace to Land at AT&T in Early 2012, LTE–Ready

Finnish mobile phone maker Nokia was rumored a few times before to plan the release of Windows Phone in the United States on the airwaves of AT&T sometime in January 2012, and some more proof on the matter has just emerged.

The mobile phone is said to be higher-end than the Nokia Lumia 800 that started to arrive on shelves since mid-November, and its specs list should confirm that.Rumor has it that the smartphone, supposedly called Nokia 900, will arrive on shelves with a large 4.3-inch touchscreen display, complemented by a 1.4GHz application processor, just as the Lumia phones. Moreover, the new device should be launched with an 8-megapixel photo snapper on the back, as well as with 16GB of internal memory, and with enhanced connectivity capabilities.

The guys over at WMPoweruser have it under good authority that the smartphone will indeed be released in the first quarter of the next year, and that mid-March might be the timeframe for its arrival.

However, they also note that Nokia is keen on making the device available before that, even as early as late January.Codenamed Nokia Ace, the smartphone is also rumored to sport 4G LTE connectivity capabilities, and might actually be released on shelves as the first LTE handset from the Finnish giant.

Moreover, rumor has it that it would actually be the first Nokia Windows Phone to make it to the United States, and that Nokia Lumia 710, which was rumored recently to be unveiled at T-Mobile next week, might arrive on shelves after it.Apparently, Nokia is almost ready to make the new device official, hardware-wise, though it is waiting for the next Windows Phone release (the long-rumored Tango version) before making the move.

While AT&T is certain to have the mobile phone on its airwaves, Verizon is also said to have plans for it, though it’s uncertain whether it will have it available at launch.
