Rumor| HTC is planning a new Surround?

The site PatentBold, has made public the new plans for a new model from HTC . The images remind us immediately of a Windows Phone from the first generation of Taiwanese home or the HTC Surround , a terminal distributed in the U.S. through AT & T and other countries, perhaps not very popular but with the particularity of possessing an innovative design and excellent Speaker slides .

Tango early preview upgrade for HTC Surround (Video)

Russian site W7ph.ru reports that one of their members came across an upgrade for his HTC Surround which provided a Tango early preview (7.10.8107 to 7.10.8757.81).

Microsoft has been handing our HTC Surrounds as developer devices after poor sales on AT&T, which may explain the existence of the software.

The handset is an updated HTC Surround Version 7.10.8757.81 should be a pre-Tango,but so far we don't what's  different in the implemented features. This information, if confirmed, would show that Tango update is not targeted exclusively for low-end handsets.

DEAL: Amazon Selling Off Contract New Samsung Focus For $240; Surround $195; Quantum $160

Interesting deal over at Amazon. They’re selling an off-contract Samsung Focus for $240. For those of you not looking to get tied up for another 2 years that’s not a bad price.

The Craigslist price for a used Focus is around $200 so the extra $40 for ‘new’ isn’t too much. Of course, it’s a year old phone with a first gen CPU so this is probably for people that need to fill a gap before their contract renewal comes up but a deal is a deal.

While we’re at it, the Surround is $195 (only 4 left) directly from HTC which is pretty solid and the Quantum is $160

Microsoft NL giving away WP7 devices in exchange for 3 apps

Microsoft NL have launched an interesting project where developers can apply for a limited stock of free Windows Phones to develop apps on for the device; all that is required is that you submit your first app within the first month of receiving the phone, and a total of three before 29 February 2012.

If you fail to submit an app within the first month, and three to the Marketplace before the February date you'll be required to return the phone to Microsoft.

Microsoft has teamed up with HTC for this project, who are supplying the HTC Surround to developers free of charge. A developer account registered using your Live ID is required, and Microsoft will be using that information in the account to monitor progress.

Microsoft is really pushing for quantity in the Marketplace, with just over 40,000 apps available at the moment compared to the iTunes App Stores' 500,000; and what with the recent news that app developers can earn more at the Marketplace than at the Apple, what better initiative can there be than giving away the devices that power the apps to the developers who are creating them.
